Im not sure about my future in the military? [Air force question]?
Well im a freshman in high school right now, and im not sure what i should do in the air force. My goal is to be come a commisioned officer, but im not sure what i should do as one. I love to be around airplanes but i can't see myself as a pilot. I also like any indoor jobs.
Worst come to worst my backup plan was to just enlist as an enlisted man and get a sergeant rank with the college degree if OCS didn't accept me.
I plan to go to USF and go to ROTC and get a bachelors in science.
So if you can reccomend a good job for me?
also if you can answer this ill give you best answer:
What GPA does USF normally accept you on NOT IN THE MED OR IV program.
Thanks
You are a freshman so you basically have a clean slate as far as GPA because no college considers grades earned before 9th grade. Some don't even consider 9th grade, but only 10th and 11th. Study your hardest and get involved in extracurricular activities. At least one sport and one other mainstream activity that you enjoy and strive to show leadership in those activities. Pay close attention to algebra 1, 2 and geometry because these are the subjects tested on the SAT. Also decide which subjects you will take SAT achievement exams in from an early date and schedule them to coincide with the AP exam in the class.
I 'll suggest a new hierarchy of goals:
1) Air Force Academy
2) Afrotc Scholarship
3)College and Afrotc
4)College and OTS
5)Enlist
As for an air force job, how about air force intelligence officer....
Public universities like USF usually admit on a basis of GPA and SAT scores.

The middle 50% range of scores looks fairly average at USF so it doesn't appear to be that selective of a school. Middle 50% means that 25% were below the low end of the range and 25% were above the high end of the range.
From USF's website for fall of 2008 the middle 50% range of SAT score was 3.5-4.1, This means 25% of admitted students had below a 3.5 GPA and 25% had above a 4.1 GPA.

Honestly, if you want to be an air force officer, maybe think about the air force academy with a university with an afrotc detachment like USF as a backup. There is a lot of useful information about preparing for the academy or any university on the admissions section of the air force academy website.

Also it is not too early to contact the ALO(academy liaison officer) in your area.
