Was the RAAF the 4th largest air force in the world at the close of WW 2?

It would not surprise me as the RAAF had expanded enormously during the second world war, from a miniscule force of mainly obsolete fighters and bombers... To a large tactical, even strategic force ...

Indeed the Australian Government toward the end of the war had plans in train to build 750 P 51 Mustangs ( under licence ) locally to add to the several hundred operational aircraft it had already this order was greatly reduced as a result of the Pacific war ending in August of 1945.

Actually, the RCAF was larger than the RAAF at that time. The rankings would be 1) USA, 2) RAF, 3) USSR, 4) RCAF, and, probably, 5) RAAF. Of course, that dismisses the air forces of the Axis powers, as both Germany and Japan had more aircraft than the RAAF. BTW, it is possible that the USSR was number 2, but that information is not readily available.
