Jeep Wrangler X vs Rubicon?
Trying to decide between an X or a Rubicon. It looks like the Rubicon adds the 4:1 axle ratio, lockable front and rear diffs, better suspension and the front swaybar disconnect.
My question is, how much difference do these make in offroad capability? Or, stated another way, how hard of trails would I need to do before the extra features of the Rubicon start becoming useful?
And if I added the 3.7 axle ratio, lockable rear diff and swaybar disconnect options to the X, how much does that narrow the gap?

I should add that this would mostly be used as a daily driver, but I would like to do some weekend off-roading. I would anticipate doing rocky trails, some steep slopes, small water crossings... but probably nothing like deep mud or lots of rock crawling.
Also, if someone could answer this question: for the 4:1 axle ratio... is that the normal drive ratio or is it the 4-Lo ratio... i.e. do the X and Rubicon still have the same ratio when in 2WD/4-Hi?
I think the Rubicon is the only way to go if you plan on off-roading and are unable to do your own upgrades. The upgrades on the rubicon are warrantied by the dealer, already installed thus can be financed into the total price. If you can do the work yourself i am sure you will come out ahead in total price, but you have to buy the parts upfront or at high rates of interest. Then spend your time to do the work and be out of a vehicle that you are paying to use. and forget about it if you pay someone to do it. as far as performance, trails are usually rated 1-4. Stock you could drive the 2 and maybe a 3 if you are a good driver. Mod'ed X could do the same but you don't have to be as good a driver, and you run the risk of breaking axle parts because you don't have the dana 44 axles The Rubicon can do 3 and 4 if you are a good driver. All these could be bumped up a half level if you add a lift and taller aggressive tires. Please be aware that some 4 rated trails cannot even be completed by devoted trail rigs with 48" tall tires and 3/4 ton axles, but some can be completed in stock daily drivers like the Rubicon. I just made the list for comparison purposes.
