please help! this could cost me dollars!!?
i have a 4wd nitro rc buggy its a hobao mach.28 hyper 8... i took off the front driveshaft leading to the central differential.. i started the car and when i drove it,,it took a while to accelerate and the engine was rpm was high! dunno if its the tire is burning out or the engine..it wuz dark couldnt see... when i take it off the ground the back wheel spins when i press the throttle..so any way my question is will take off the front shaft damage the center differential and will i get double the amount of power on the rear wheel since the front shaft is gone??
p.s to take off the shaft i had to take the front suspension and tires and when i put them back together the car wont steer to the right! it only steers left and when i push the tires right it feels very hard but when i turn off the controller it is easy to turn with my hand just like before...is the servo damaged while i was working?
PUT THAT FRONT DRIVESHAFT BACK ON!! You have probably done some damage to your engine and center diff already. The center differential's job is to transfer power from the spur gear to each of the front and rear diffs. Without any load on half of the center diff, it will just sit there and spin. This means that there is no load on the engine either. RC engines are designed to run with a load on them. Without a load, they tend to over-rev and get damaged. The only way to run a 4WD RC car as a 2WD is to lock the center diff. To lock the center diff, simply fill it with superglue and then put it back together. Bear in mind that if you do this, you will transfer the full power of the engine to the front and rear diffs and will probably ruin those within a few gallons of fuel, if not sooner. You will not get "double power" to the rear if you do this. You will get rear-wheel drive only, which I have no idea why you would want that????
As far as the other question, your servo is probably okay. You need to take the steering servo arm back off the servo, turn on the transmitter and receiver on your radio and find center on your steering servo. Now, with the radio still on, reattach your steering servo arm with the tires pointing as close to center as you can get them. You can fine tune the center with the trim function on your radio.
