How do I pull the starter on my 1982 Suzuki GS 750?
Just got this bike. Its my first. Right now I have to push start it, using the clutch. Its a pain in the neck because its a very heavy bike. Sometimes I get it on the first try, sometimes I never get it started. I'd like to pull the starter to get it rebuilt or replaced. Can someone tell me how, or direct me to a guide?
Remove the (-) cable from the battery (safety reasons).
Remove the starter motor cover (on the crankcase behind the #1 & #2 cylinders).
Remove the wire from the starter motor.
Remove the bolts holding the starter motor to the crankcase.
Pull the starter motor out of the engine.
It's a tight fit with an O-ring making an oil tight seal.
Gently pry the starter motor out of the engine.
