Is the hot rod deluxe too loud for home practice? I was looking into a fender blues junior?

Is the hot rod deluxe too loud for home practice? I was looking into a fender blues junior but got a friend selling me his almost new hot rod for same price I mostly play at home but want to start practice with band any opinions??

I personally prefer the sound of the blues junior to the HR deluxe, but if you're getting that kind of deal, I say go for it. It's big enough to gig with.

I had one of the original Blues Deluxes. The deluxe is a good amp. If you want to use it for practice at home. Set the volume of whichever channel your on on about 6. If you're on the dirty channel drop your gain to about 2. Lower your guitar volume to about 1 or 2 (where you can just hear it).

Not only will you be able to practice at home like that, but you'll also be able to take it to band practice with the same settings. Just raise your guitar volume to the desired level.

Also start with your tone settings all at half. Move each one one number at a time individually up or down until you get the tone you want. You'll have to do this again for band practice because at different volume levels the amp will respond differently.

Oh, and I don't think you'll have trouble with that amp sounding muddy. It's an ear bleeder if you don't know how to set it. With it set like I just told you, you should be able to vary your pick attack and get some really nice touch responsive breakup and compression on both channels. In fact, you may find you like the clean channel better. I did.
