How do you keep it together when you're toddler throws fits all day?
My toddler has hit the terrible twos! I just feel like screaming, what do you do to cope with the tantrums and "nos" and screaming all day?
Tantrums are usually caused by frustration - for example not being able to get his own way, or not being able to communicate well about his needs.
First rule is STAY CALM!
Try to avoid situations where he could answer "No" - for example at nap time you should not ask him if he is ready for a nap. You could ask him if he would like you to carry him to bed for his nap or would he prefer to walk. There is no "No" answer there.
If you ask him which pyjamas he wants to wear, he may pick something unsuitable and not want to wear what you suggest, so you could try saying "Which you would you like, the red ones of the blue ones?"
Remember, this is a phase and is part of his developing normally, however you don't have to be held hostage to a child's tantrum if what he is doing is trying to get his own way - if you remind him gently that you can't understand what he wants when he screams, and that you will listen to him when he speaks calmly, then he may settle down.
This will pass.
