How to make new battery packs from A123 lithium ion polymer batteries.?
Battery packs are just individual cells wired in series (for higher voltage) or parallel (for higher current). The problem is, there are electronics integrated in manufactured packs to make sure the cells are well balanced so you don't end up overcharging or overdischarging any one individual cell. And if one cell does get into unsafe territory, the whole pack shuts down. If you were to try this by yourself without the electronics, you could run into safety issues, but wiring them up, usually with spot welding is how they make packs.
