::Speaker wires/ 5.1 surround, what gauge? are banana plugs necissary, gold endings?:::?
Perhaps someone can help me decide... I just bought a nice amp, and terrific small speakers (8ohm) in a average soze bedroom. Speakers are small, and are around 100watts each.. What gauge speaker wire should I use?? Is it worth buying banana plugs, and attach gold plated endings where speakers hook up? Each wire wont be longe then 15 feet each.

I hate to rain on Monster's parade, but there is virtually no professional audio engineer or designer that believes the myth of the "super" wire.
And, I defy anyone to show a definite improvement in sound with identical equipment when using gold connectors over regular. It simply isn't there.
That being said, there is one distinct advantage of gold over other types, and that has to do with the degradation over time. Gold simply lasts longer as a solid connection.
14 Gage cables are quite good, and it won't make a better connection by going to banana jacks. It does make it easier to disconnect, so if you are going to be connecting and disconnecting a lot, then the bananas will do well.
