help help help!!!!! 1993 firebird part two?
alot of you are saying to replace the water pump, when i first got the car the water pump was seeping i replaced it with a new one, i changed the freeze plug to a coper one, changed the distributor cap and rotor, changed the spark plugs and wires but one thing i did notice is that im running 7mm plug wires i heard im suppossed to be at 8 or 8 1/2 but idk, the motor still has all 285 horses and still kicks off the line, im guessing its not a blown head or cracked gasket because it takes about 20-40 minutes to start getting hot, the fans do turn on and the water circulates, no fluids are ever low and all the valves work fine, no milky oil no water dripping from exhasut. im thinking that the cats are clogged up a lil and its causing the over heating but there is n o black smoke or white smoke it runs fine even when reved to high rpms. im going to check the hoses maybe their spongy but the thermostat is a 180 deg and its brand new.....help me im confused and frustrated....possible part 3
did you check the timing?
what about the radiator cap? get the cap and the cooling system pressure tested. sometimes there can be a small leak in the heater core which is unnoticed lettting the system down.
is the exhaust rotten, bend damaged etc?. maybe its time for a new set of pipes. old pipes and mufflers can rust internally, blocking the passage. i've even had a muffler which a rat crawld into and died which caused all sorts of issues untill we changed it.
