Is hockey tape good on your blade?
I play inline hockey and just bought a new 1 piece stick
( easton synergy grip 350 int) . Up til now ive been using a shaft and blade set up and have used composite blades that work for both outdoor surfaces and the sportsplex indoor surfaces. I know that with the new synergy stick i wont be using it outside because it will ruin the blade. So i was wondering if it would be a good idea to put black tape on the bottom of the synergy stick for better control of the puck? or will it not be a good idea with the rubbery indoor surface? In the past i didnt put tape on the composite blades because it didnt have a good feel to it outside.
I hope the blades you were using were ABS, not actually composite. No composite holds up outside.
The whole point of the tape is not to improve control, though it has that effect. It's to protect the blade. What you do is you run a strip of tape along the bottom, then wrap the blade. That way you get three layers of tape on the bottom if you overlap the wrap so it's effectively two layers thick.
That will protect your blade so it doesn't wear out. inspect the bottom often, and as soon as it wears down to the blade replace it.
